The How and Why of Fostering

Fostering an animal in need is an essential piece of animal rescue. We do not have a physical shelter, we need fosters to offer a safe and loving home while we search for the forever home for our dogs.

Foster homes give the dogs love, healthy food and water, shelter from the elements, and exercise. Taking care of medical needs, like administering medications or other medical care may also be necessary. There are dogs who may need training. There are two goals: provide a safe place to land and help the dog find their forever home. We will work to put the dog with the best foster home.

A foster...

  •  Provides a safe, clean, caring environment.

  •  Provides good food, water, toys/enrichment, and shelter.

  •  Provides exercise and socialization as appropriate.

  •  Notifies us if any medical or behavior problem become
apparent and works with veterinarian or trainer as needed.

  • Take pictures of your foster dog. so we can share on social
media and which helps them get adopted.

  • Communicates with us on a regular basis.

People think it is hard to foster because you know you have to say goodbye. But the truth is that you save a life by giving them a chance at a forever family, and making room in a shelter for another dog who needs help. Apply to be a foster today.
